ACADEMICS
Homework - Homework pack will be sent home on tomorrow.  Since this is a short week in school, students can return their homework pack on Monday.  Remember:  Homework is important because it is practice work for students to maintain skills already learned or to practice First Grade skills that are upcoming.  Homework is also a time for parents to have a look at what your child can do independently where your child is academically.

Now it is time for students to be studying 2nd Quarter and 1st Quarter words.  They will be assessed on both at the end of the 2nd Quarter.  Also Read, Read, Read!!!  Students should be practicing and building their reading skills by reading for about 10 -15 min. EVERY Day!!!

High Frequency Words - Please continue to study sight words with your child.  They are located in the top tab of the blog.

Please continue to have students study these phonics words.  Words that have the short vowel sounds and beginning blends as you see below.  Please make sure your child knows words with these patterns.  I don't want the to  memorize these words, I want them to learn the words. If they see these words or words with these blends and vowel sounds in a story, will they be able to KNOW these words?

Words with:  sh, th, ch, wh
Beginning blends:  dr, tr, cl, bl, gr, scr, spr, spl, fl, br,
Please make sure students work on know letters: b and d
